How we work with

Families and couples

The distance from your pain, your grief, your unattended wounds, is the distance from your partner”.      Stephen & Ondrea Levine

“A team is not a group of people who work together, a team is a group of people who trust each other”

   Simon Sinek

As clinicians we believe that any given person is best understood in the relational context in which they live, a partnership, family or peer group. Equally, helping people through emotional and psychological difficulties can be much easier when clinicians get the opportunity to work with the whole system, for example the couple or the family. As expressed succinctly in the above quote, couple or family problems often originate from the unattended wounds that individuals bring to the couple or family. Working with the dynamic of a couple or family, this can be more easily recognised and worked with than by seeing individuals on their own, as we do not exist in isolation, but always as a part of a larger group.
